Yes indeed. Looks like another u-turn from Boris. He makes more u-turns than Prayut and Trump combined.
This from Bangkok Post:

LONDON: Travellers from Thailand arriving in England will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days, according to revised guidelines.

The updated guidelines published on the UK Government website late Friday list 59 countries and territories for which no quarantine will apply, starting from July 10.

The United States and China are not on the “travel corridors exemption list”, but neither is Thailand, despite earlier reports that it would be

BBC International news definately stated last night that Thailand would be free of quarantine when entering England,

I think so. I don't know what there is to get excited about. Who else but foreigners who have been involuntarily stuck in Thailand all this time would be interested in traveling from Thailand to the UK?

Am I missing something?

Thailand not on UK no-quarantine list

Updated guidelines list 59 countries and territories deemed safe starting July 10

4 Jul 2020

LONDON: Travellers from Thailand arriving in England will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days, according to revised guidelines.

The updated guidelines published on the UK Government website late Friday list 59 countries and territories for which no quarantine will apply, starting from July 10.

The United States and China are not on the “travel corridors exemption list”, but neither is Thailand, despite earlier reports that it would be, and despite the country’s success in all but eliminating local transmission of the coronavirus. The country has reported no new local cases for 40 days.

“If you have been to or stopped in a country that is not on the travel corridors exemption list you will have to self-isolate until 14 days have passed since you left that country,” the announcement on the website says.

The list will be subject to regular reviews based on conditions in various countries.

Thailand is one of just 15 countries to which the European Union has agreed to open its borders.

Asian countries on the UK exemption list include Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong, all of which have managed to bring Covid-19 transmission under control, though there have been some scattered outbreaks of new cases in Japan and Korea.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will each announce their own separate rules depending on how they work in England.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the change, which reverses a two-week quarantine policy imposed in June, would lead to the "reopening of the nation".

Under the new rules, a traffic-light system — red, amber and green — will be used for different countries depending on their prevalence of the coronavirus.

Amber countries will have reciprocal arrangements in place with England, while green countries are deemed to be safer than England, such as New Zealand.

The amber countries include France, Italy and Spain, which are among the most popular summer holiday destinations for Britons.

But the US and Greece, another popular travel destination, will be designated with a red light, which requires 14 days of self-isolation.

Anyone considering a holiday from the UK to Thailand typically needs:
(i) flight to Thailand (return)
(ii) permission to enter Thailand on reasonable terms
(iii) access to bars, restaurants, coffee shops or whatever else they want whilst in Thailand
(iv) reasonable terms for returning to the UK
(v) travel insurance

So we watch each point, whilst knowing that all need to be in place before we take a holiday.
(i) & (ii) are still roadblocks.
(iii) Seems OK.
(iv) Is not ideal, but 14 day quarantine AT HOME is OK for anyone who plans a long holiday and doesn't have to go to a place of work when returning.
(v) Unclear, but I imagine travel insurance could be had via a specialist insurer at a high price.

When BBC publishes something different to the government, that is NOT a government U-turn.

Reciprocal, bubble, air bridge....call it what they like. Reciprocal arrangements.
So quarantine required as long as the other country requires it. And opens their border.
What’s difficult to understand?!

It has nothing to do with reciprocal arrangements. For example, UK citizens are barred from traveling to Australia or New Zealand whereas Australian and New Zealand citizens can travel to the UK without the need to "quarantine".

There has been no official explanation that I am aware of but I suspect that the reason that the UK Government did not include Thailand is that they suspect the the number of people infected has been higher than the official figures show. Thailand has not tested many people compared to most European countries.

Let's hope that we are all free to fly like before in the not too distant future.

If you haven't already worked this out, there are two lists: one with airbridges; and another noting countries that essential travel has been relaxed which makes it easy and better for insurance purposes.

The airbridges I would image are reciprocal - I suspect Thailand hasn't made reciprocal arrangements. I suspect some countries are saying UK is not out of the woods yet, and refuse, thereby no reciprocal arrangement made so that is where the 2nd list comes in. There are a lot of Asian countries that have handled the coronavirus differently, and kept their numbers down. Why would they let their guard down now. Same as the US with the UK, although I'm perplexed as to Trump's approach to this at the moment, although having said that (and this is different subject I know), it was the Governors of the relevant states that made the decisions, so Trump can't be held responsible for that I suppose.

If YOU haven't worked this out, I already explained that point yesterday, in this very thread.
