Other than this article I don't have any first hand information or observations on what happen on 12 September but I did witness a raid on soi Cowboy on 1 September. We were at a bar on Sukhumvit 22 when word came down the street that something was going on around Soi Cowboy. We walked up to see what was going on and the street was blocked off with both Army and Police in force. From what I could see farangs were being ignored, no pee testing and no "ID" checks. I never found any press coverage of this raid.
This article, corroborated by photos, states that farangs were tested for drugs and had to show ID. Passport check or not, I don't know.
I've had no reports of raids on Bangkok's gay bars recently. The last police/army action a few months back was more of an immigrant round-up and farangs were ignored. Now were back to pee testing and ID checks? When happens when a farang tests positive?

Though, migrant workers still seems to be an ongoing concern and will likely continue to effect night life in Thailand.

And the surprise is? When will farangs realize subtle or not so subtle it is not business as usual.
