Maya Bay Closure Extended to 2021

Those planning to visit Maya Beach on Phi Phi Leh will recall it was closed last year because the environment was being severely damaged as a result of tourists increasing to around 5,000 a day. Now it has been announced that the iconic beach, made famous as a result of Leonardo di Caprio's movie of the same name, will remain closed for a further two years. When it reopens, the number of visitors will be restricted and boats will be banned from mooring in the bay.
