Bangkok LGBT Film Festival: July 2 - 7

Post by fountainhall »

This year's Bangkok LGBT Film Festival will be held in the cosy Bangkok Screening Room. This is located up a couple of flights of stairs in the Woof Pack Building on Saladaeng Soi 1. The unassuming entrance is actually on Sathorn Soi 2 but best to reach it by turning into Saladaeng Soi 1 from Rama 4 and then taking the first left. The entrance is just a few meters into the soi on the left. I saw a documentary there about a month ago. The Screening Room is a delightful facility, has about 50 seats and a comfortable bar with a few Thai dishes. Closest MRT station is Lumphini but it's not much of an extra walk from MRT Silom and BTS Saladaeng. For those arriving by car, there is a park across in the U Chu Liang Building (with the HSBC sign at the top) accessible from Rama 4 and Saladaeng Soi 1.

Most movies all have English subtitles. A few have been dubbed into English and these have Thai subtitles.

Thank You Fountainhall for posting this. I would not know of this film festival otherwise.

We went tonight (1815) and saw Mapplethorpe. A powerful and moving work. It runs again Saturday 6 July 2030.

Looking forward to Sat 6 July 18:15 Being 17 and Sat 6 July 20:30 Freak Show

I enjoyed both but Being 17 was a better movie. The film festival has been well attended by foreigners and Thais, about 50-50.

Last day today.
