No apology necessary. Everybody makes mistakes. I made one once myself . . .

"In most cases, career foreign service officers serve a tour of approximately three years per ambassadorship whereas political appointees customarily tender their resignations upon the inauguration of a new president."

Quite impressive credentials. There's been 4 different Ambassadors to Thailand since I moved here. Only one, Kenney, showed any accessibility to the expat community with outreach meetings and even a display stand at Central World during a trade show. She's the only one I met face to face but at the time I did not have anything to complain about. Now, I might mention why the Embassy won't verify our US income for Thai Immigration. Simple enough just ask for a copy of your 10-40, US bank deposits or a letter from the income source etc.

He's not the first political appointee as the Post says the last was 1973

He may not be around long if Trump does not get reelected.

As to what this might mean to US Expats, probably nothing. He must have lobbied for the position to make business contacts in Thailand.
