US Supreme Court - protects LGBTQ workers

Post by 2lz2p »

In a ruling on the Civil Rights Act, the Court votes 6 to 3 that "sex" includes LGBTQ workers. Hopefully, this will put a damper on the Trump Administration's efforts to remove such protections.

Two conservatives join liberals in Supreme Court ruling to protect LGBTQ workers

Justice Neil M. Gorsuch and Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. joined the Supreme Court’s four liberals this morning to rule that the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination “because of sex,” protects gay and transgender employees.

This is the most significant legal decision on gay rights since the Supreme Court recognized a constitutional right for gay couples to marry five years ago this month.
