Re: Headline News
Isn't that great? The people and parties that received the fewest votes in the general election are now most likely to take over the government, with one among their number becoming Thailand's next Prime Minister. And this while not only refusing to vote for Pita, who received a landslide number of votes, but excluding both him and his Move Forward Party from having any part in the new government entirely.
Yep, now that's the way to run an election and a democracy. If the vote doesn't go your way, no problem, just disregard it and who cares what the vast majority of the population wants . . .

Re: Headline News
That news story says owners of confiscated motor bikes will be required to pay 2000 bt to get their machines back.
A large bike will rent for around 200 baht per day so that’s only 10 days rent lost. In addition the renter is obliged to leave 1000 baht deposit against damage. In the circumstances I doubt that it would be retuned.
So all in all about a 1000 baht loss for the renters. Hardly a deterrent.

(4:50min).
Local businesses objecting to the use of the beach after dark ? That sounds like nothing other than unreasonable self interest by the businesses. I don't go drinking on the beach after dark, but if the locals want to, that should be their choice.
