Watched many of those shows when I was 4 or 5 (but a couple years after 1951). And, while Lucy and all the cast members were certainly talented, my favorite was and remains the character Fred Mertz (William Frawley). He was a tightwad and sarcastic geezer and somewhat of a 1950's sanitized version of Archie Bunker or Fred Sanford.
