Don't even think of eating at the food court of JJ Mall. The food is really bad and probably the worst Thai food I've encountered. JJ Mall is next to Chatuchak Market.
Another one to be avoided is at the Tropical Fish Market which is adjacent to Chatuchak Market. It is unnamed, but has a small truck in front which serves as a little dining room. Cute but the food is not good and the place does not look very clean.
Very few good places to eat at the Market during the week but somewhat better on the weekends.

Now that we know what to avoid, do you have any you can recommend?

I liked Toh-Plue in JJ market itself. There are fans for the open-sided (but covered) area and good aircon in the indoor section. The food has been good the four times I've eaten there. I liked the addition of the "nest" the cashew chicken is served in, and the fruit shakes are more fruit than ice, too. I did a post with photos about it on May 27th last year.
Hope others will have ideas for places nearby, though. Inside the market itself can be a madhouse on a weekend.
