I gave it back to him and said I was a queer vegetarian.

Carl's Burgers is CKE Restaurants, NYSE: CKR. Also owns Hardee's. CEO Andy Puzder.
http://www.hoovers.com/company/CKE_Rest ... ski-1.html

It seems that Karcher or his estate no longer have any ownership in the company:
"Carl Karcher, the company's founder, contributed to the downward pressure on the stock in August when he was forced to sell a bunch of it to meet a margin call. Karcher had been buying CKE stock on margin (meaning he borrowed cash from a brokerage firm to make the purchase), and when the stock continued to fall, the broker called its loan back, forcing Karcher to sell."

CKE's CEO Andy Puzder is an early supporter of Mitt Romney. His rational is all economic not social or gay issues.

The company did not seem to get involved in California's Prop. 8.

I cursory search does not list CKE Restaurants as one of the anti gay companies.

I might boycott the place, because I try to avoid fatty foods--not good for the heart! His burgers always looked like the worst possible (or the best if you don't give a f**k, depending on your point of view).

Trongpai,

Thanks for taking the time to post those links...Very interesting some of them are, especially Pink Panther. It's sad we don't have the freedom here in Thailand to have informative sites available to us like Pink Panther.

Back on topic....so has anyone actually experienced the the Char-Broiled hamburgers at the new Carl's Jr.? Hell, maybe they don't even have Char-Broiled burgers available there. I'll pop down to check them out this coming week for sure.

Cheers...

He didn't use the coupon, so he didn't have a hot dog.

I was at Central Festival on Saturday afternoon with the bf and we gave it a try about 3pm. Both of us were hungry since we had not had any lunch (well, lunch for me and the bf had not done the Thai bit of eating a little bit multiple times when hungry --- but that is the subject of another thread).

The signs do say "char-broiled" -- are they? Don't know for sure - the burger I ordered came with some kind of tomato based sauce, which to me overpowered the flavor of meat, bacon, cheese, etc. (yeah - fattening, but so long as it not an every day occurrence :? ). Of course, that is my opinion - everyone has different taste and may find the sauce to be quite delicious.

They offer several selections of burgers - and you can order the "combo." When I asked what came with the burger if you ordered a combo, the attendant didn't understand my question; but called on another who did and she answered that the combo includes fries and a drink -- also pointed out that you could get small, medium, or large and suggested we have the medium combo. So, that is what we ordered - total price for burger (big Western with a double meat patty and regular Western with a single meat patty - plus bacon & cheese - the onion they put on it was actually a large fried onion ring rather than an onion slice), two drinks, and two fries was 526 Baht. They give you a cup for your "fountain" drink and you fill it with ice and choice of drink - appears refills are free - for cola, they have a choice of coca cola or coke zero.

If I do it again, I know to order a small combo -- we both finished the burgers, but could not finish all the fries in one medium order, let alone two. Both of us were quite full -- the fries, again IMO, were very good.

Was shopping at central today and remembered Carl's jr. not easy to find, last place facing beach road on the third floor.
I've always wondered why fast food burgers have no resemblance to those made at home, Carl's is no exception close your eyes and it might as well be Burger King, one visit was enough for me.

The number one chain operated fast food burgers in southern California (in my opinion) is a place called “Original Tommy’s” which were Dynamite
Yes! Yes! Yes! The Tommy-burger is supreme! :D
