Are they kidding?

Post by Gaybutton »

Unfortunately, violent attacks against farang are not uncommon in Pattaya. Most of these attacks occur in the wee hours of the morning and most of the time are committed by lady boy gangs when an offer of sex is rejected by the farang. I think when someone actually accepts the offer, all goes well. I hardly ever read anything about violence against farang by lady boys when their offer is accepted.

You still have to be very careful, though. There have been a number of incidents where their customer ends up drugged and then robbed when he passes out. When that happens it's usually when a drug was slipped into the customer's drink. Most of the time the victim is a tourist from India.

The "Are they kidding?" part is the last sentence of the second story.

German Tourist Smashed in the Face with Rock by Pattaya Ladyboy

2 April, 2016

At 02:00 AM on Friday 22nd of April a German tourist was reported to have been smashed in the face by a ladyboy on Jomtien Soi 5, Pattaya.

A 45 year old German man Mr. Lutz Muller (translated from Thai) was brought to Pattaya Memorial hospital by Sawangboribul Rescue Foundation Pattaya City. The tourist had been attacked and injured and was displaying wounds consistent with being hit in the forehead by a blunt object. Mr Muller had suffered a broken nose and disfigurement around the face and forehead.

A friend of the injured German, 45 year old Mrs. Wilaiwan told reporters that she had been having a drink with Mr. Muller in a room at Jomtien Soi 5 when Mr. Muller decided to continue drinking at a nearby bar. An hour later her German companion staggered back into the room, covered in blood.

The German tourist told Mrs. Wilaiwan two women had approached him but he was not sure they were women and perhaps could have been ladyboys. The threesome got talking and the ladyboys persuaded him to go to have sex. Catching him off-guard one of the assailants smashed Mr. Muller in the face with a rock.

When the German woke up he found his pockets had been rifled and 4,000 baht stolen.

Transgender Twosome Arrested in German Tourist Rock Smashing Incident

23 April, 2016

At 11.00 AM on Saturday 23rd of April, Pattaya Police successfully caught and arrested the two assailants in the robbery and assault of German tourist Mr. Lutz Mohler.

Police Major General Amphol Buarubporn, Police Colonel Suktad Poompanmuang, Superintendent of Muang Pattaya and their team announced the arrest of 2 ladyboys, Mr. Phumin (Nan) Saranat, a 20 year old from Sakolnakorn and Mr. Nopporn (Por) Jitsom, a 21 year old from Chonburi for the harmful robbery and injury of Mr. Lutz Mohler.

The incident, reported on Friday 22nd of April, saw Mr. Mohler admitted in to Pattaya Memorial Hospital with injuries to his face claiming he had been attacked by 2 women.

At the time Mr. Mohler told reporters that 2 women, who may have been ladyboys, approached him around Liabchaihad, Jomtien Soi 5 and invited him to join them for sexual activities. After his refusal they hit him with a rock and fled on a motorbike with 4,000 baht they had taken from him.

Despite minor discrepancies between Mr. Mohler’s female friend stating that the German had been knocked unconscious for an hour, waking to find his money missing and Mr. Mohler telling police he was conscious and saw the pair ride away, the 2 ladyboys had confessed to the crime after being arrested, therefore there will be a trial.

Pattaya police expressed concern regarding the problem of ladyboy’s sexual harassment and robbery and said, despite the 1,000 baht fine from law enforcement, they are still causing problems.

A 1000 baht fine for committing this kind of violent crime? What kind of deterrent or punishment is that? No wonder these crimes are committed.

What happens if they can't pay the fine? I don't know, but for some strange reason the the term "slap on the wrist" comes to mind. I'm picturing them paying the fine with the money they stole in the first place.

I wonder how many of these criminals get away with it. I wonder how many of these incidents go unreported in the media. I wonder how many victims never go to the police about it.

What irks me, and it may simply be the way the local English language media words it, is most of the time, according to the media, instead of major concern about these crimes, the concern is "damage to Pattaya's good image." I hate to break the news, reporters - Pattaya's "good image" was damaged, possibly beyond repair, years ago. We consistently see news reports about how the police round up and the Beach Road-Walking Street lady boys, take them to the police station, fine them one or two hundred baht, and then they're all immediately right back on the street doing the same thing.

Maybe one of these days they'll get really serious about cleaning up these criminals, but that day has yet to come.

Steal 4000 baht & smash the guy in the face with a rock. Get fined 1000 baht.
Making 3000 baht profit is an incentive, not a a deterrent.

If this is the first offence, they should be in jail for a minimum of 1 year. Possibly more, considering the severity of the assault.
