Sunee Plaza Nostalgia
Re: Sunee Plaza Nostalgia
I agree Dodger. I am a relatively newbie and for me Pattaya is paradise as it is in its current state. Being able to have sex with your number 1 preferences, who wouldn't want that? Asian culture I like also, the food, the people are different compared to Europe: more friendly, more relaxed. Also the boys seem to have fun. Of course they do it for the money, but I see many times sincere fun. If I were to retire now I would retire here.

Re: Sunee Plaza Nostalgia
I never will Forget the good old times. I started in LOS in 1983 when i was 25 years old. 1992 was the first real gay visit in Pattaya. I never will Forget how I was shocked when i entered "Gentlemans Club" first time in Pattayaland. After 30 seconds I run away. I had "Kindergarten" in my minds. I had good sleazy years with Peter in Crazy Pub and much more. Even Bangkok was a heaven. Now I am near 59 years old and one discogenic is squeezed and the knees not work properly. Now I have my fun here at home mostly.

Re: Sunee Plaza Nostalgia
Hi Dodger, everyone living here has a justification for doing so now these are mine:
1. It remains a very cheap place to live.
2, Easy place to live for westerners.....good medical care, restaurants, no real winter, more and more Thais speak english, etc.
3. There are enough people here even for the most socially picky to make friends with.
4. For the most part Thais are excepting of falangs.
5. Sex is a click away.
6. It is a great place to fly from to visit most of Asia also when you get bored 2 hours usually to BKK.
7. Thailand is a mostly a buddhist country and I find this the least offensive of all religions.

Thanks for the photos; they brought back many memories. Perhaps GB could make this a regular feature? There must be many of us who have similar photos hidden away somewhere. Do you remember Brian Boxer (I think that was his name)? his photos regularly appeared on the forums and were always worth checking-out. Photos taken inside the bars would also be appreciated, though I realize that this practice was discouraged. Even so,there must be some out there of the Throb shows, for example.

His name was Brian Wiggley. His web site was called Boxer Travels. There was also David Ferguson. He didn't have a web site, but someone might still have his photos. He posted as David-in-Pattaya.Oliver wrote:Do you remember Brian Boxer (I think that was his name)?
Certainly, if anyone has photos to share, please do, respecting people's privacy and making sure they're legal. I don't want to have to be deleting photos. If there is any question, send the photos to me first on a PM and I'll be happy to let you know if they can be posted.
Sunee Plaza photos belong on this topic. Photos of other areas belong on topics of their own.
Also, it does not have to be limited to Pattaya. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or wherever photos are perfectly welcome.

Thanks for the photos. Yes they bring back lots of memories for me. Unfortunately they also bring back the reason for the demise of Sunee. Many of those Bars appealed to and satisfied pedophiles. Some of them did it discretely and others more out in the open and thus a large % of customers were pedophiles.
Yes even customers I talked to and then was advised by friends why they came to Sunee. I spent a lot of time in Sunee back then and many times I was flabbergasted when others told me what was going on . Thai boys from Bars delivering underage boys to customers . At least 2 Bars that were known for having mostly pedophiles for customers and yes a Beer Bar I spent quite a bit of time in because of waiters I knew for years when they used to be GoGo Boys.
Many visitors at that time had no idea what was going on or the types of customers attracted or if they did they felt it was not their place to say anything. And as GB said non Thais and visitors have no right to be going to police because it would have been just as likely they would be in trouble.
Outside Agencies shone the light on underage Sex and for the most part it has been cleaned up. Problem is those customers made up a substantial part of the customers and the publicity during the years of clean up have limited the number of new customers who want to visit Sunee.
Wishful thinking that it will ever come back to those photos. The world and phones and computers have changed with Apps etc.

Actually I'm happy I didn't experience Pattaya in 1994 and 12 year old boys inside gay bars , I first visited in 2005 and no underage that I observed back then , I remember 16 to 18 year olds in a couple of bars so always asked for ID to be sure .
I don't know how I would react if I witnessed it.
