Re: Brunei to Stone to Death Gays
Death by stoning is a particularly barbaric example of a problem caused by religion.
Re: Brunei to Stone to Death Gays
The introduction of the barbarous Shariah law appears a means of shoring up the Sultan’s ‘prestige’ amongst his Muslim subjects in the light of all the many misdeeds by his large family. His brother was head of the Brunei Unvestment Agency and later Minister of Finance. In those roles he stole $40 billion. When caught, he eventually paid some of that back. The number of hookers used by the same Prince, some entertained in parties in the Sultan’s Boeing 747-400, is legendary.

More embarrassing are the many rumors that the Sultan’s second son is gay and thought to be especially enamoured with SM play. Will the Sultan throw the first stone?

British citizens or British residents may sign the following petition. Once it reaches 100,000 signatures, they are supposed to debate it.

Personally, if the Sultan of Brunei thinks this is OK, I would like to see him buried up to his neck in the ground and have people throw a few stones at him. Just to see how he likes what he prescribes.

Thanks for the link, duly signed. It will reach 100,000 at a canter. What our politicians will actually do beyond talking about it will amount to little or nothing. My guess is they'll send a strong letter of disapproval to this Sultan dude.Jun wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 2:59 am British citizens or British residents may sign the following petition. I don't get it. A Muslim country will start applying Muslim law, which is Sharia and is in the Koran. And the left wing who wants to Islamize Europe and America goes nuts. Such a hypocrisy.
And the US who are best friends with Saudi Arabia and don't even mind them killing their citizen in a Saudi consulate. Now all of a sudden they have issues with Brunei being an Islamic country?

Re: Brunei to Stone to Death Gays
Nowhere in the Quran does it say that proven adultery shall be penalised by death. Equally. nowhere does it say that homosexuals shall be punished by stoning to death.
It states that the punishment for both "crimes" be up to 100 lashes. Yet elsewhere it says that there should be no punishment and that those 'guilty' of homosexuality should be left alone if they repent.
Shariah law is based on what it is alleged the Prophet Mohammed said verbally on one or more occasions. How that can be proved, I haven't the faintest idea. But it is surely interesting that the "stoning to death" punishment was rarely put into practice throughout history until relatively recently.
The Bible does specify death for one man lying with another. Equally, stoning to death was the common form of death penalty handed down by early Jewish courts. This form of punishment is included in the Torah and the Talmud - but not in the Quran.
Re: Brunei to Stone to Death Gays
Actually the barbaric act of stoning was already in practice thousands of years before Islam as you'll find copious references in Jewish and subsequent Christian scriptures and texts.SP55 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 5:58 am I don't get it.
