Goodbye to The Nation

Post by fountainhall »

The Nation has announced it will cease its print edition from 28 June. It will continue as an on-line news outlet.

Presumably the lack of competition means the cost of the Bangkok Post will rise pretty soon thereafter. I do hope they increase the number of investigative journalists who really begin to investigate. I'd love to know, for example, why the Red Bull heir remains at large years after murdering a traffic cop, even though Interpol has allegedly been on the case. This murderer avoided countless court hearings for all sorts of reasons and then escaped in his private jet. Although the statute of limitations has now passed on some of the charges against him, he can still be tried on at least one major one. The Red Bull racing team has two cars in each Formula 1 race and these take place every two weeks. He is bound to be at a few of these, but then the authorities have probably been paid a very substantial amount to look the other way. And the Bangkok Post has probably been warned that the story is cold. Odd, since the Thai media were all over this story for a long time.
