I'm in a similar position.
I last went to a Boystown Show a couple of years ago and have never been to any of the Jomtien shows. It's easy to see what's in the Jomtien shows when walking past. When I do walk past, it's mostly a lady boy.

What's wrong with taking the kind of cute twinks that can be seen in Jomtien bars and putting them in a show ?
Gaybutton wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 6:56 am Apparently enough people do like the lady boy acts that the bars include them in their shows. I would think if enough people dislike those acts and make that known to the management, the lady boy acts would disappear. That would be logical. However, most of us know how often logic applies in Thailand . . .
Some of these bars have farang management. I'm a little disappointed that they think we all want to see lady boys and almost all of the time.

Whilst some want lady boys, to assume we all do is incorrect.

When the lady boys arrive for the Jomtien shows, some of the bar customers are out with their cameras, so it appears they like this.
Other customers are almost deliberately ignoring them. Why not cater for these customers ?

After customers spend the evening at Jomtien BOY bars, why would anyone assume all they want to see after that is a lady boy show ?

A comment that leaves something to the imagination, so clarification would be welcomed.

I accept the existence of lady boy shows.

However, I struggle to understand why there are no shows that mainly consist of cute boy shows. Something like the opening video.

The term "Acceptance" came to mind more in line with the acceptance of Ladyboys in general which some people obviously struggle with, not meant to imply that all people like Ladyboy shows.

Personally, I prefer being entertained by HOT boys (gay, str8, fem boys...yum, yum,... whatever), with little or no interest in Ladyboys shows, but at the same time I have a fondness for them and appreciate their existence.

Ladyboys are so deeply ingrained in Thai culture that it's almost impossible to turn to any TV station without seeing at least one who's been hired as an entertainer. And without the unique skills of the "Ladyboy (e.g., recruiting, training, and managing of boys)" the places that we all love (or loved) so much in Pattaya like Boyztown and Sunee Plaza would never have flourished the way they did back in the day. For this fact alone I'm tremendously grateful to the "Ladyboy".

It's a shame that our modern western countries aren't intelligent enough to acknowledge the existence of a "third sex" (phet thee som") the way it's acknowledged and accepted in Thailand. This term is meant to describe the "Ladyboy", which of course is considered in Thai culture to be a girl who was born in a boys body. By accepting the existence of the Ladyboy and appreciating them for who they are - we are in fact accepting ourselves - understanding that we ALL exist somewhere within the same diverse LGBTQ spectrum (the third-road).

As a side-note: I think places like the Venue and other venues in Jomtien Complex that offer Ladyboy shows versus "boy shows" is because the BIB (and others) won't permit boy gogo's in JC - only cabaret-style entertainment which is where the Ladyboy shows come in.

Back in-the-day...the legendary "Monty", who was famous for always pushing the limits with the BIB, would slip a few cute "boy boys" on stage with the Ladyboys during their lip singing routine just to please the masses.

That hypothesis could certainly partially explain it. The BIB spoiling all the fun again.
The limits seem different near Boys Town, but I guess tea money is a factor. I presume a bar owner could put on a cute boy show near BT, if paying the appropriate "fees".

I'm fine with the existence Lady boys.
What I dislike is the total absence of cabaret shows led by cute boys.

Same here.

Come to think of it I can count on one hand how many boys I liked with that "WOW FACTOR" in any cabaret show. Two exceptions would be experiences I had at "My Way Gogo" in Paradise Complex/Phuket, and the other at the old "Coffee House" boy bar in Chiang Mai where they used to host small cabaret shows. From memory, both of these places had ladyboys serving drinks - but the boys in the shows were always the very cute "pretty boy" or "boy next door" types which is right up my alley (sometimes to be taken literally).

To the OP's point, I agree that the boys shown in the pictures that he posted rank about zero on the "Erection Scale".

I'm not a show person anyway.

How about this one? An essential, stimulating addition to the show . . .

Are you not a show person irrespective of what's in the show ?

I'm not a show person mainly as none of the shows appeal. The moment a bar puts on a twink show similar to that in the OP, I will give it a chance.

If there was a show cast exclusively with the slim...pretty-boy... fem type boys that I like - preferably dressed in see-through bikini style undies or completely naked...I'd be a "show person" for that show for sure.

Places like the old Crazy Dragon *(Sunee), or Thai Boy Boys Gogo, and Sawatdee Gogo (Pattayaland) used to host these types of shows and I was in heaven, but unfortunately those days are behind us.

The only show I can recall enjoying that had a mix of different boy types was when Kevin Quill ran Throb. He cast a wide variety of boy-types...great music and choreography...and I loved watching that fat farang transvestite doing cartwheels off the stage. Always a great time!

I always try to avoid being critical - but the shows they offer now in Jomtien Complex are on the same par as a Bingo Parlor IMO.

So would I.
In fact, any show mostly with boys like in the OP would probably get me along at least once.
Anything meeting your full description would have me as a regular.

I believe in praising and criticizing as I see fit.
Hopefully with some balance and attempting to "praise by name & criticize by category"*.

It still remains irrational to have lots of nice Jomtien bars with handsome hosts, then the moment any bar puts on a show, they ship in a pack of lady boys.
This is almost like they think they are addressing 2 different markets.
