Not so much bars, but a particular boy in a bar, like Dto in Night Boys in Bangkok.
I have good memories not related to a particular boy of the old Dream Boys in Pattaya some years ago (upstairs) and New Sawatdee Boys in Sunee area, across soi VC.

Re: Go go bars I miss
This topic seems relevant now speaking of gay venues now gone. Still can't forget afternoons at Monty's pool
In the realm of 5000 viewed this topic........Bars now missed, any wonder why the gay scene is fading fast?
Then the thought of spending an evening at home was unheard of, now you need to ask why to go to where most of these venues are now gone.

It's good to see this topic revisited. I hope I'm not alone in enjoying the sharing of memories.
I'm a Pattaya rather than Bangkok man but there's one place in Soi Twilight that I do remember fondly; Blue Star. Its premises are now occupied by Dream Boys. Blue Star was unique in that it had two separate troupes of dancers, one manly, the other twinkish which took it in turns to dance, and always had periods of nude go-go.
It also has a personal resonance for me in that I dropped my wallet there on my first visit to Bangkok and one of the waiters ran along the soi to catch me up and return it. It taught me something about Thai guys on the scene which subsequent (and extensive) experience has confirmed.

That has been my experience too. While every so often I read or hear about a thieving Thai boy - and I've always figured it's for money to buy drugs - it's rare and the vast majority wouldn't dream of stealing or keeping "lucky find" money if they know where the rightful owner is.Oliver wrote:It taught me something about Thai guys on the scene which subsequent (and extensive) experience has confirmed.
It's not just the boys. I also often read about taxi drivers finding and turning in huge sums of money left in their taxi - sometimes enough to set them up for years or even a lifetime - even though the chances of the money being returned by any other means are quite remote.
I trust the boys and men much more than the ladies. I don't recall ever hearing about or reading about a Thai female ever returning found money.
Unfortunately there are still far too many who would also think nothing of keeping the money. It's always best to take common sense precautions - and don't be careless enough to be forgetting your wallet in a taxi.

Re: Go go bars I miss
Does anyone remember a bar where Powerboys is now that had a karaoke upstairs where anything but singing occurred?

I've got first-hand experience. I was once walking from one shopping mall to another one in Bangkok, and for whatever reason about 400 baht dropped to the sidewalk from my pocket, which I didn't realize. A Thai lady came running from behind, approached me and handed me the money (back). I had similar opportunities to help Thais thrice so far; two dropped their ATM cards and one some cash without noticing.Gaybutton wrote:I trust the boys and men much more than the ladies. I don't have any trust issues with Thais at large, male or female or otherwise. But I usually try my best not to put people's honesty to the test, anywhere in the world.

I remember Mic My, but I don't remember anything about a karaoke upstairs. The only bar I can remember in the Sunee Plaza area that had a karaoke upstairs was Monty's - but I don't believe anyone actually went up there and used it for karaoke or anything else.Undaunted wrote:Does anyone remember a bar where Powerboys is now that had a karaoke upstairs where anything but singing occurred?

Monty's came way after, and yes it was Mic My....and there was a karaoke upstairs, perhaps you were not in the "know", and the little dyke ran the bar and upstairs.Gaybutton wrote:I remember Mic My, but I don't remember anything about a karaoke upstairs. I guess I wasn't. I have no recollection of a karaoke there. I'll take your word for it.Undaunted wrote:perhaps you were not in the "know"
