Presumably Kuwait is one of those repressive countries where the young ladies might be expected to dress modestly & avoid sex before marriage. So are they going to go off on holiday & hang around with the boys ?

I have no idea about the seasonal influx of young Kuwaitis. However, it appears other middle Eastern tourists enjoy the services that Pattaya has on offer. Even if the young Kuwaitis also indulge, having sex or massages is not a 24h activity.

I thought they came here to escape the Kuwait summer heat.

So I looked up the temperatures there in the last week.

They were in the mid to high 40’s with two days at 50C and one day at 51C.

That’s 124 Fahrenheit for some!!

No wonder they left the Sandpit….

As far as I know the females don't go to Pattaya at all, whether to hang around with the boys or go somewhere else on their own to have a normal holiday.

But that is beside the point I am trying to make, which is asking why these Kuwaitis do this in the first place. Gerefan makes a good point about the heat, but if they're trying to escape the heat, going to Pattaya to cause havoc on motorbikes is their choice of ways to do it? Pattaya is the best place for them to go? Maybe so, but if that's the case, then it is still on my "I Don't Get It" list.

Do they even go to the beach or to public swimming pools such as Pattaya Park or one of the waterslide venues?

Consider the alternatives.
(i) Europe is a bit more expensive.
(ii) The countries near to Kuwait or on the way to Thailand include Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh & Myanmar. Now which of those do you think they might pick first for a week of fun ?

Again that is not the point. It's what they are choosing to do during that week that I don't understand. Their idea of fun is creating havoc with total disregard for anyone - and to do that every day they are in Pattaya. Your country list could have included Malaysia, which is far more Islamic than Thailand. How long do you think they would get away with their motorbike behavior there or anywhere else? Pattaya offers nothing else for them other than to engage in this kind of behavior?

I have zero respect for people like that - who have their own zero respect for others. We're talking about payoffs so the authorities will look the other way. If these people would behave decently, there would be no need for payoffs or police presence.

Anyone have the slightest doubt that they'll be back in Pattaya next year, and the next year, and the next, and the next - still doing the same thing?

As for speculation for payoffs to look the other way, does anyone have any ideas about who is paying, how much, and who is receiving the money? If the reason for payoffs is really to help out hotels, restaurants, and motorbike rental shops, it stands to reason they must be the ones putting up the money. Whatever the amount is, it must be quite substantial. Will they be making enough in return for those businesses to recover the amount they're chipping in for payoffs and still make enough of a profit to make this all worthwhile?

A miracle! The police finally lifted a finger. What happened, somebody forget to pay tea money?

Not a word in the article even mentioning the motorbike rental businesses illegally renting to them in the first place. Why am I not surprised?

Not a word about any penalties whatsoever imposed on the motorbike maniacs - no fines, no arrests, no nothing - just a warning. I wonder how long it took for the Kuwaitis to finish laughing. What do you think might be the penalties if any of us were out there doing the same as these Kuwaitis do?

I'll let you folks guess how long it will be before the motorbike maniacs are right back at it - and no police presence or penalties imposed on the motorbike rental businesses. You might as well also guess how long it will be until another "crackdown" instead of proper police presence every night since they know what goes on.

Pattaya Police Crack Down on Disorderly Middle Eastern Motorcyclists, Seize Several Motorbikes

By Aim Tanakorn

25 July, 2024

A team of Pattaya Police inspected Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya on Wednesday night, July 24th, to prevent and address issues caused by what they said were mainly Kuwaiti tourists allegedly riding motorcycles recklessly, honking loudly, and causing disturbances to local residents in the area.

The inspection, which took place at 11 PM, was instructed by the Chief of Pattaya Police Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit. He deployed several patrol officers to set up checkpoints at the entrance and end of Soi Yensabai, which is typically a rendezvous for foreign bikers, especially Arabian tourists.

This followed another large amount of complaints by local residents just a short period of time after a prior crackdown as we reported here.

It also followed reports of fights and conflicts between Middle Eastern tourists in South Pattaya, as reported by The Pattaya News team here.

The focus of the operation was to create public awareness and warn the tourists against reckless driving, loud revving, and creating noise disturbances. They also are focusing on the breaking of Thai road rules, such as not using helmets, having proper licenses, or documentation like insurance and registration.

During the operation, the police confiscated several motorcycles for further inspection after finding they lacked proper documentation. Additionally, they conducted searches for illegal items, including drugs and firearms, but did not find any prohibited substances or weapons.

According to the link below the Kuwait's summer school holiday runs from June 18 to August 26 which coincides with the period these guys are over here creating havoc.

This being the case they should disappear in one month.

Until next year when they'll be back doing the same thing. If the answer to why they get away with this really is tea money, are there enough of them that makes it worth it to whoever to look the other way when they come to Pattaya to create all this havoc?

Does the police chief live in Soi Yensabai ? Can the local residents exert enough political pressure to get him removed ? It's probably a firm no in both cases.
So what do they have to lose with the current policy ?

My question would be what do they have to gain by allowing it?
