Legalise casinos?

In principle, people should be free to fritter away their money on whatever daft activity they prefer.

In practice, that's increasing the chances of a Sihanoukville occurring in Thailand.

In Pattaya I believe that is already underway, encouraged by certain powers-that-be, especially the ones with their hands out, and will continue whether casinos ever come to Pattaya or not. If casinos are eventually allowed in Pattaya or vicinity, it will merely speed up the process.

I certainly doubt many of us with long experience in Pattaya would say today is essentially the same as it was ten or twenty years ago.

Pattaya isn't the same as when I first came here about 17 years ago, but the pace of change to infrastructure is slow.

Whereas Sihanoukville seems to have attempted to redevelop itself into a Chinese Vegas in about 5 years.
At the moment, Pattaya doesn't have entire blocks demolished and rebuilt to cater for the Chinese. Sihanoukville does.
