Described as one of the most beautiful and well-preserved colonial-type residences in Bangkok, the Bang Khun Phrom Palace has recently been opened to the public. The 110-year-old residence belonged to Prince Boribhat Sukhumbhandi, one of King Chulalongkorn's sons, and is situated up river close to the Rama VIII bridge. Part of the Palace is given over to the Bank of Thailand Museum. The Palace and Museum are open for group tours during weekdays and for individuals on Saturdays between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon and again from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Entry is free. Foreigners are required to show their passports. The easiest way of getting to the Palace is by river boat to the pier by Rama VIII bridge.

110 year old Palace now Open to the Public
Re: 110 year old Palace now Open to the Public
think that christian also had a report-from an actual visit, to this place the other week or so.
easiest to get there (if you are still at least stable and agile on feet) the river-boat express from BTS
Very nearby is the old HQ of bank of TH-also sometimes visitable.
Vivanmek-the assumed biggest wooden palace in Th, is also pretty near (walkable for me).

I looked back at Christian's blog. He did indeed write an illustrated article earlier in the month.
