Gay men are around 34% more likely to be left-handed than straight guys. Also, having one or more older brothers increases the likelihood a younger brother will be gay by 14.8%. This is called the "fraternal birth order effect". But the results are separate discoveries and can not be taken together.
Writing in the PNAS {Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA), a respected multidisciplinary scientific journal, the group of Canadian researchers surveyed more than 800 gay men. The study basically reconfirms a similar type of finding discovered in a 2000 study of a much larger group comprising over 23,000 heterosexual and homosexual men and women - although the overall percentage was slightly smaller. That study illustrated that, overall, 26 per cent of homosexuals were partly or completely left-handed compared with 20 per cent of heterosexuals. And that study correlated the results of 29 previous studies
