Since he was rather good, I don’t want to cause any loss of face. So the net effect of that is slightly less chance of going in there.

That is such a familiar problem to me. I recently offed a guy from Toy Boys, who was exceptional, which led to four more offs. But I had my eye on other guys by then and wanted to spend some time with one of them. I’d swapped Facebook details with my original guy so I sent him a message saying that I wouldn’t be offing him that evening but leaving it at that. As it happened he messaged back that he would take the evening off so I never had to deal with the awkward encounter. I sat very happily with two Cambodian Guys but didn’t off either.

Before the pandemic I regularly offed a guy from the now closed Cupidol but made it clear that I would only off him on alternate nights. He pouted a bit but accepted the arrangement and it worked out OK as I offed other guys from Cupidol on the other nights. I’m still in touch with him and one of the other guys so I don’t think I offended anyone.

In the old days, I'd solve such an issue by going to a different gogo for a while. Or making sure I tell him I'm a butterfly on the first meeting.

I wouldn't worry at Winner Boy. They aren't possessive.

This can be an awkward problem for many to deal with. One way I used to handle it when I would be stuck with a "clinger" was to make sure to decide which boy interests me for my next visit and get his badge number. Then, next time I entered the bar, I told the first waiter I saw (never a mama-san. Never) I want badge number whatever to sit with me. I would wait a moment before proceeding on to give the waiter a few seconds to get the boy, then go sit down and have the waiter bring him to me before the "clinger" even realizes I'm there. That avoided awkwardness and the "clinger" would get the message.

That usually worked well for me, anyway.

I never really had a problem entering a bar even when I knew the boy I didn't want that night would try to come and sit with me. I didn't want to upset him, but I knew all he really saw in me was at least a drink and a tip or at best a potential sugar daddy. So, I had no problem stopping him and making it clear I want to "butterfly" tonight and maybe I'll take him next time. After all, I'm the customer. I'm the one who gets to decide who, if anyone, sits with me and/or gets taken off.

Think about it - if another farang comes along who is more generous to him with money than you are, do you think he would have any problem about dropping you and gravitating to him?

Taking a boy off, even several times, does not obligate you to him in any way unless you were foolish enough to make promises. I would always treat the boys with kindness, but if it became necessary, which was rare, to be a little more aggressive about it, I would. After all, if he is trying to force himself on me uninvited, I'll make it clear it's not going to work that way.

I know all this and also know this is a purely commercial transaction. So his interest in me ends the moment my wallet closes. However, when he's been a pleasure to be with, I still find it far more difficult to send him away.

I suppose I could just walk in there and grab the other lad off the stage on the way to my seat.

Also, just to answer the obvious question, I haven't found the other lad on the phone apps either. Not all bar boys seem to be active via e-commerce channels.

No, and my complaint is many of them make no effort on the apps. Some of the winner boys are on apps, and one of them I have taken multiple times. However, he didn't bother to reply to my get-together request on the app. It wasn't until I found him in the bar that we began hooking up during the day.

I asked him why and his answer: "I bored on Grindr" (or whatever app it was ...).

Overall, I'm delighted to have all these options here.

In all the thousands of years of history, there have only been a few decades where people could fly across continents in a few hours. I'm very pleased to be living in that era and enjoying it.

For me, it's not a complaint, but it's clear that some bar boys don't make much effort on the apps.
So my usual solution is to meet another boy.

I met one nice Khmer lad in Jomtien, who spoke good English and claimed he didn't get many offs due to his age.
He was a young looking 25 year old.
He wanted to go with me that night, but as I was on my third beer on a "rest" night, it wasn't an option. I got his Line ID, but the response to the discussion was very slow.
I suspect he makes a reasonable living out of customer drinks and tips.

Also, whilst he spoke good English, he declared that he doesn't read it. Perhaps that's a factor in slow responses, but I know one lad who speaks almost no English who manages to send messages.
