Where do Boys Leaving The Gay Scene Go ?

I also don't know where they go. Of the boys I was seeing 10 or 15 years ago, they're all gone.
Perhaps there's one exception, who I probably met around 10 years ago. He must be in his mid 30s, has a heavily photo shopped picture and is on ALL the apps.

I presume they've gone back home and got some kind of regular low paying job.
I know one who claimed to be set up and had purchased some land.

I remember another regular, who was showing his age, but was slim, good in bed, always willing to do long time and pleasant company to chat to. Then he moved his parents into Pattaya. He put on a lot of weight, was no longer prepared to do long time & the service wasn't as it was before. By my next trip, he'd just disappeared.

Of the more recent leavers, thanks to apps etc, I have a slightly better idea.
One has set up a business in Jomtien, well away from the gay bars, possibly with the aid of a sponsor.
One is in Yangon (I suspect he might eventually return)
One is back in Laos. Unlike many who do that, he's almost constantly on Grindr. I wish more would do that, as it takes longer to hire a Lao guy in Laos than in Pattaya.

I know what happened to one ex-go-go boy. I first met him when he worked at the long closed “Sawatdee Boys” in Boystown. I offed him regularly for five years and then saw him when he worked at a “Seven Eleven” store. He soon got fed up with that but an American Sugar Daddy he had kept in touch with set him up in a laundry in Jomtien. He worked really hard but it was too much for him and he gave up on that as well.

He made a bit of money making porn films but finally ended up in a profession that really surprised me… …he’s a loan shark!

He’s been very successful and is now buying land for a house. He still visits Pattaya occasionally but now lives some way inland.

I don’t know how many will remember “Gentleman’s Club” a small Go-Go-Bar with a slightly dodgy reputation run, I think, by a Swiss guy. A boy I knew from there who was very cute indeed now works in a hotel still in Pattaya. Before his current job he worked for a short while as a waiter. He’s also done well for himself but has sadly put on a lot of weight.

More recently a guy from Laos who worked at another closed bar “Cupidol” returned to Laos and graduated from University and now makes a rather precarious living selling goods exclusively via Facebook ads. His computer skills that he learned at University came in useful. He’s very bright and still very cute and we chat via FaceTime regularly as his English is so good.

The majority of working boys I've interacted with over the years seemed to understand that the "working scene" would simply be one chapter in their lives where at some point, either because of the market or the aging factor, they would have to move on to find employment elsewhere.

The fact that a high percentage of these boys fail to save money or do any sort of concrete planning for the future can be attributed to their lack of education and social development, understanding that most come from impoverished upbringings.

You will see some of the old (or older) str8 boys working in places like motorbike repair shops, construction sites or back on the farm, where the gay boys seem to gravitate to working in retail shops, 7/11's, shopping malls, hotels, food stores, etc. - where many ladyboys remain working in the service industry (including bar mamasans) or working at local markets (a popular choice with gays and ladyboys). I know several ex-working boys who are in LTR's with farang who moved to various provinces with seemingly more opportunities.

Unfortunately, due to the some of the perils involved in the working scene some boys who you haven't seen for a while ended up being incarcerated (usually for yaba), back in their home village struggling with addiction, or dead. I had to say goodbye to many good friends aged between 17 and 27 who died during their short working careers either from drug overdose, alcoholism, violent crime, motorbike accident or HIV. Many chose to go home and die near their families without even seeking medical help.

A rough, life any way you carve the turkey.

All true. It's good to sometimes think about how lucky most reading this board probably are, knowing we are financially secure, have good health insurance, and the most pressing daily problem is trying to decide what to have for dinner.

In one of the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates Abraham Lincoln said "Would any of the poor striking workers in the north elect to change places with the slaves in the south?"

I get somewhat of the same sensation when I think about my own life compared to the life so many of these boys endure - or maybe better said, condemned to endure.

Such an excellent point!

Farang who have spent time in the rural villages most of these boys come from seem to have a much better grip on the reality that you're alluding to. Conversely, those who never have (for whatever reason) usually remain in the dark as far as understanding the boys true nature.

I ran into Day who used to work for Michael and Thomas at Corner Bar/Sunee back in the day. He now works as a stock clerk at Friendship Market...lost a few pounds...looks great...and still has the exact same smile. It was great to see him again.

Yaya, of Yaya Bar/Sunee fame can be seen some mornings teaching yoga next to the parking area at Dongtan Beach. He also looks great and hasn't aged a bit. One of my old flames Bas who used to work as cashier at Yaya's now works as a freelance photographer and can sometimes be seem wandering Jomtien Complex with camera in hand.

Nat, who was known for his kissing skills when he first worked at Mic My/Sunee and then moved on to Nice Boys when they first opened has continued working as a freelancer roaming the Dongtan beachfront area. He still has his darling good looks and appeal which is remarkable considering the lifestyle. He can sometimes be seen sleeping under the palm trees.

Several of the staff (and others) who used to frequent Forest House Bar/Sunee can frequently be seen hanging around Divarium in the Complex. Arm, the old Forest bartender...Som, a friend...and Man, who was the owners boyfriend, are all still around the working scene.

Em, who once worked as mamasan for several popular gogo's and host bars in Boyztown and Sunee now has her own bar in the Complex (M's Bar) and hasn't lost any of her skills when it comes to staffing boys and keeping the customers happy.

All of the boys mentioned above worked on the scene in Pattaya 15-20 years ago.

Is his name Arm or Aun? I always pronounced it Om. But sometimes maybe they don’t pronounces the letter r. Almost like. New York or Boston accent.
Unfortunately Martin, the owner of Forest Bar, passed away last year. That was a fun bar in a good location that is now a laundromat.

I met a guy who used to work in Sunee years ago while walking around Boystown. I think that’s how he meets customers. Sex was great but because I didn’t respond for about a month on Line, he blocked me .

That's strange. It makes no sense to me that he would block you. He cut off a potential customer. I wonder why he would do that. I have contacts on LINE that I haven't heard from in years and forgot they are even on my contact list at all. But I don't see any reason to block or delete them.

Haven't got the foggiest clue how it's spelled but we're talking about the same person.

Arm (or Aun) is a great person all-around.

Yes, Martin passed away last year after suffering with medical conditions for years. Man, who was Martins boyfriend for +15 years is also one of those very special people.

It's depressing as hell seeing washing machines standing in place of the pool table where you could always see a cute boy bending over to take a shot. Lots of very fond memories!

Any chance of some photos so the rest of us can see who you're talking about?

The lad working there is fairly cute, except for one of those miss-shaped moustaches that seem fashionable in Thailand these days.
He was even removing hairs from his chin with tweezers, so he's not fond of all facial hair.
