This is breaking news. Not much detail yet. At 11:00 pm, Thailand time, Trump will hold a news conference. If and when it appears on YouTube, I will post it.
Feel free to post your own comments and opinions. Personally, I'm waiting for much more news, including why this happened, why now, and what is next for Venezuela. Until I am satisfied that I have enough information, I have no opinion.
Meanwhile, here is what took place:

January 3, 2026
• Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured and flown out of Venezuela after the US carried out a large scale strike on the capital city of Caracas, US President Donald Trump announced. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told a GOP senator that Maduro will stand trial in the US and that he anticipates no further action.
• Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said the government is unaware of the whereabouts of Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, adding the US attack has cost the lives of officials, military personnel and civilians across the country.
• A CNN team earlier witnessed several explosions in Caracas and reported some areas of the city were without electricity. The first blast was recorded at approximately 1.50am local time on Saturday (0.50am E.T.). That was 12:50 pm, Thailand time

It's about time the people of Venezuela had the opportunity of regime change.
The same goes for places like Iran and North Korea, but it's not going to happen for the latter.

Now an official statement from Thailand:
"respecting the will of the Venezuelan people"
I find this part of the statement somewhat ironic considering how the will of the Thai people was "prioritized" when Pita won the Prime Minister election by a major landslide.

Thailand urges US to settle conflict with Venezuela peacefully
January 4, 2026
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday called on the United States and Venezuela to resolve their conflict peacefully and to fully respect the United Nations Charter and international law.
The ministry issued its statement in the wake of the US attack on Venezuela on Saturday and removal of the Venezuelan president and his wife for trial in the US on charges of narco-terrorism.
“Thailand has been monitoring the situation in Venezuela closely and urges all parties involved to resolve the conflict peacefully with full respect for the UN Charter and international law, exercising the utmost restraint to avoid a further escalation, while prioritizing the protection of civilians and respecting the will of the Venezuelan people,” the ministry said.
According to news agency reports, some people were killed in the US attack, which Washington said was aimed at drug production facilities.
The ministry said the Thai embassy in Lima, Peru, was ready to help Thais in Venezuela. Meanwhile, it advised Thais to reconsider non-essential travel to Venezuela.
Thailand recently welcomed US help in coordinating peace efforts amid its conflict with Cambodia. US President Donald Trump played an important role in calling for a ceasefire.
The American attack on Venezuela has drawn a mixed reaction from world leaders.

Re: USA Strikes Venezuela, Captures Maduro, flies him out of the country
Your comments and opinions?
My own - So far I see merit to both sides of the issue, so it's hard to try to judge the legitimacy just yet. I believe one thing is definitely clear: Maduro is effectively gone and will never see the light of day again. I am certain he will be found guilty and will spend the rest of his life in prison in the USA, possibly a supermax. He will never set foot in Venezuela again. If he is found not guilty, I won't be a bit surprised if Trump has him sent to El Salvador to spend the rest of his life in the CECOT prison. What will become of Maduro's wife and son (son still free in Venezuela) remains to be seen. But regardless of the outcome of the legal formalities, Maduro is gone.
