Yes, quite right! The topic was bars missed not bars that did exist.neddy3 wrote:Well, I sure as hell don't miss the first named one here. Glad it is long gone.

Re: Go go bars I miss
First trip, almost 25 years ago, Spartacus guide only source of info, first to suggest to me that Thailand even had a gay scene. First bar, Bkk, Jasmine on soi where Rome Club was (Soi 2? Soi 5?--somebody knows.) Boy's name was Gek, street clothes, handsome. I was instantly in love. Went upstairs, had lots of fun, but was somewhat nonplussed when he took a piss in the shower, narrowly missing my feet. Not in Kansas anymore.
The next night, a bar whose name I can't come up with, well known at the time, on a soi running from Silom to Suriwong, perhaps not in a straight line, not far from where Golden Cock is. Boy was Phu. Also in street clothes. When he undressed, upstairs, he had a growth, a mole or something, the size of half a golf ball, on his shoulder. Grossed me out. Not a success.
Next, either Adonis or Apollo, upstairs from Jasmine and much bigger. Boy's name was Root--so ugly he was cute--wonderfully smooth soft skin. Not sure of his name, asked him "Rut--R-U-T?" Answer: "No, I'm twenty." God, he was sweet. Sang to me when we were done. Taught me to say "Kob khun khrap."
Next, same bar, Manoon(? Manun?), also sweet and gentle.
Then Pattaya. Adam and Eve in North Pattaya. Remember the owner, Madame Ed, dressed like Scarlett O'Hara at a ball? Two boys together: Pissadan and ?Babat? (It's not that I forget--I never could understand what he or others said his name was. Somebody spelled Pissadan for me.) Pissadan did a soap massage and Babat--new to the bar--at a loss as to what to do--kissed me. To this day, probably the most erotically exciting experience I've had in Thailand. Sproing! I remember Babat(or whatever his name was) as the handsomest, sexiest, boy-next-door type I ever played with. I never saw him again to my everlasting regret. I keep looking for his equal.
Then Nautilus, around the corner from Adam and Eve, next to Dolf Riks. I missed the swimming show but met A, who looked like a Thai version of Denzel Washington. He was fine.
Back to Bkk. A bar on the second floor across Suriwong from Twilight, more or less. Was it Screwboys? Boy was Jit. A long uninteresting story, not terrific, not terrible.
Visited a bunch of other bars on that trip without offing a boy. Could fill in a lot more detail from that first trip. but I realize no one would be interested. Can remember most of the bars and boys from the next trip a year or two later also, but after that they begin to blur. But you never forget the first time, I guess.

Perhaps Super A or Super Lux on/off soi 6 running from Silom to Suriwong. Super A still exists in another form, Super Lux was the founder of the acrobatic fuck show then further perfected by Future Boys, now history too.Captain Swing wrote: The next night, a bar whose name I can't come up with, well known at the time, on a soi running from Silom to Suriwong, perhaps not in a straight line, not far from where Golden Cock is........... Second floor bar on Suriwong was Barbary. It then for a few years became Dream boys and then finally Teem boys. Dream Boys moved to where it is located now, Soi Twilight. Barbary lost the lease and moved to the corner of Suriwong and Tawan for a very short time. Then the 2001 dreaded Purachai’s 'Social Order Campaign' came along and closed it. The second Barbary was great and went back to the all nude format of times gone by. It's now a restaurant with overpriced food for tourists.
Re: Go go bars I miss
Barbary is right--I think they spelled it Barbiery, for whatever reason. The other one wasn't Super A--I had a lot of fun there on my next trip and later. It might have been Super LEX--does that sound right?
Re: Go go bars I miss
Super A and Super Lex were quite different. Super A was sleazy, Super Lex had shows, with various skits, and the boys would pump it up, tie it up and walk around for customers' in your face pleasure.Captain Swing wrote:Barbary is right--I think they spelled it Barbiery, for whatever reason. Some 20 years ago when first wandering around Bangkok. Super Lex was one of the choice spots. Kamila the star with huge snakes was the star of the show and I recall he had heard about a colored handkerchief in the rear pocket. He knew of the red and blue code and asked if I knew the other colors. Alas I did not but when I returned home, I found out and sent him 6 various colors and the explanation of what they stood for. Ah it has been so long ago, I have forgotten what all the colors stand for now.
In Pattaya Memories Bar in North Pattaya was perhaps the most welcoming place in town. I told the guy who ran the music that I liked,, Broken Hearted Woman and after that he played it about 10 times a night when I was there. Ah the boys, seems they stuck to me like glue as I recall. Some good times for sure,
Still having a good time in Pattaya 20 years later, a bit less frenetic now but still have the best two weeks of the year in Pattaya.

My favorite bar in Boyztown was the Cockpit bar with their cabaret shows put on by the boys that worked there. I dated one of the boys there for 4 years but finally got tired of the lies before ending the sex part of the friendship but stayed friends for another 4 years as he was great to go around with.

What's in a name?Captain Swing wrote:Barbary is right--I think they spelled it Barbiery, for whatever reason.
Most times it's just a sign maker making a mistake, but also sometimes they have to use a spelling variation for the license if there's another business using that name.
Screw Boys was licensed as 'School Boys' but the authorities/police did not like that name. They changed the sign to 'Screw Boys' and order was restored in the universe.
Anyone have fond memories of Phuket before the tsunami? Volcano Bar, Black and White and the Cadillac Bar with the front end of a Cadillac attached to the wall. All before the Paradise complex, taxi mafia and over priced hotels.
Re: Go go bars I miss
Some of the bars I visited from back in the 80's not already mentioned;
Bangkok: D.O.K in Soi Tonpo, Steam works, Volt, Stax, White Horse, K-Nude, Aquarius, Bamboo Pub, Mandate and Apache Boy in Saphan Kwai. Bangkok Garden, Silver Fox and Witches Tavern, way up Sukhumvit (I stayed at the Rex hotel at the time) The first bar I ever visited was lonely Boy, near Telephone Bar, my boy's name I can't remember, but he was a lovely twink. Our local rep had booked me double room at the Montien, which was good because we were checked going in. The following morning we went shopping at the nearby Central Store and he bought me a Rice Farmer Doll, which is still on the shelf by my desk.
I preferred to go to Nasa Disco in the early days in preference to Rome Club and visited Calypso Cabaret in the Washington Theatre.
Pattaya: My favourite was Nautilus owned by Ron Rudd. New Sky Bar, on top of Mr Macs, A Friend Club, Believe Bar, Derby, Narcissus, Ball Park Pub and Cabaret Pub, Star Boys and Top Man, all a bit away from Boyztown.
I enjoyed watching the shows in Simon's Cabaret, where I re-met my (now) partner (after first meeting him in Nautilus some years before)
Oh, and a special mention to Via Rent a Car who let me drive one of their Mira's to Sing Buri, to attend a boy's entry into Monkhood.
Chiang Mai: Siamese Cats, Butterfly Room, Lanterns
Thanks to whoever started this thread. Looking through my diaries has certainly brought back many happy memories.
